NON RAFTERS

  • You will hop onto our vehicle together with all the rafters to be transferred to the tour destination. As you will not be taking part in the water rafting activity, you will be waiting for the rafters at the ending point (Rayoh). You are free to explore the surrounding areas or simply enjoy the scenic view of Padas River. Lunch will be included for you.

Overview of Tour

Level up on the adrenaline meter with the Grade 3 and 4 Padas White water rafting. the 9KM thrill ride boasts 7 exciting and challenging rapids from Grade 3 to Grade 4, on rainy seasons it could even go up to Class 5, ferocious indeed. 

The Padas White Water Rafting journey will be one to definitely remember as you will board an old diesel train from Beaufort to Pangi where the train stops in the middle of nowhere to get off. Yup, the excitement literally starts way before you get into the water. Hop on the train and indulge in a 1 ½ hour scenic train-ride through lush-greenery, villages, rivers.. the authentic feels of the country-side and all that jazz.

The rafting activity takes about 1 ½ hours to 2 hours depending on rapids and river condition, a water raft captain will also be in the raft at all times to give paddle instructions and makes sure of safety measures. Don’t miss amazing sights of the tropical rainforest while you’re cruising through. The HEAD HUNTER, LAMBADA, COBRA, SCOOBY-DOO, WASHING MACHINE, MARY GO ROUND, SNAKE HOUSE AND BBQ RAPIDS is where the real thrill begins. 
Thinking about jumping off the raft to just glide on the smooth flow of the river? Go right ahead! Body rafting is part of the fun. Your water rafting captain will give a heads up at certain points of the river that is more suitable to body raft.

About the Location

Padas River is situated in the interior of southwestern part of Kota Kinabalu that is only accessible by train (used since the late 19th century in Borneo). Padas is classified as Class 3 - 4 River.

Ever imagined of riding the oldest train in Borneo which passes through the once renowned headhunters' tribe – The Murut? Well, guess what, we have the best river guides amongst the tribe to guide you down the raging water of Padas River, claimed to have the best rapids in South East Asia! This exciting adrenalin' rushing tour will take you down to wave that goes as high as six feet and thrilling rapids up to grade IV. Whilst rushing down this wild and untamed part of the Padas River you will experience totally untouched nature.

Padas River is situated in the interior of southwestern part of Kota Kinabalu that is only accessible by train (used since the late 19th century in Borneo). Basically, this trip will give you two experiences advantages -
1) Excursion of Class 3 - 4 river, 2) A uniquely ride in an antique train.

The adrenaline rush excursion covers a distance of 9km of this rather muddy 200 km river that holds 7 exciting and tough rapids! These rapid carries amusing names such as Merry-Go-Round Rapid, Break Point Rapid, Scooby Doo Rapid, Cobra Rapid, Curve Rapid, Lambada Rapid and Head Hunter Rapid. Each rapid will give you the feel of the motion as what the name means. The journey will first take 1-½ hours overland through the countryside to Beaufort town. From thereupon, adventure begins with 1-½ hours train rides tracks along the Padas River that gives glimpses of the thrills and excitement to come. Upon arriving at the starting point, participant will be given safety briefing before going down the river. The ultimate challenge will speak for itself as one shoots through and experiences the nerve tingling excitement which crescendos rapid after rapid while getting a closer look at the Borneo's amazing flora and fauna. After rafting, enjoy a sumptuous barbecue lunch by the river. Wind down with a sunset view of the return journey to Kota Kinabalu.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

White Water Rafting - Padas (Grade 3-4)

Rise together with the sun as your journey will take an early start. A coach will pick you up at your hotel and transfer you to the Beaufort Railway Station tucked in the interiors of Sabah, East Malaysia on the island of Borneo.

0730hrs: Arrive at Beaufort, hop on a train and indulge in a thrilling 1 ½ hour scenic train-ride through lush greenery, villages, rivers.. authentic feels of the country-side and all that jazz.
A quick pit stop at the RAYOH train station to keep your belongings and to suit up into your rafting gear!

1030hrs: Arrive at PANGI Station, enjoy some light refreshments for an energy boost while the river guide briefs you through important safety measures.

Time to brave the 10 Kilometer slippery slopes of the Padas River! The rafting activity takes about 1 ½ hours to 2 hours depending on rapids and river condition. Paddle on through bumpy river-beds and get drenched in adrenaline and excitement as you reach the ending point. Don’t miss amazing sights of the tropical rainforest while you’re cruising through. The HEAD HUNTER, LAMBADA, COBRA, SCOOBY-DOO, WASHING MACHINE, MARY GO ROUND, SNAKE HOUSE AND BBQ RAPIDS is where the real thrill begins.
You can even Body Raft if you’re keen on something more vigorous!

1230hrs: Upon arrival to the ending point, throw some dry clothing on and feast on a sumptuous lunch by the PADAS River before hopping on another train ride at 13:30hours: back to Beaufort (estimated 2- 2 ½ hours)

1545hrs: Arrival at Beaufort Town and transfer by coach or van back to Kota Kinabalu city (your hotel) estimated 2 hours – 2 ½ hours.

1800hrs: Estimated time of arrival in Kota Kinabalu
