Day 1 Lahad Datu / Danum Valley Field Centre / Night Drive 08:00 Hrs: Meet up at Lahad Datu Hotel / Airport and transfer to DVCA via 4WD or van. Briefing on the programme before departure. 11:30 Hrs: Expected to arrive at DVCA Reception & Information Building, register and check-in. 12:30 Hrs: Lunch provided at the dining hall. 14:00 Hrs: Take a walk along the 500-metre self-guided nature trail and get to know the rainforest, marvel at its beauty and experience the pristine ambience of the rainforest as it has been for hundreds of years. Proceed to trek to one of the old burial caves of long-gone communities which include radiocarbon analysis on a child’s femur dating back to A.D.1670 and a coffin made of Bornean Iron Wood (Belian) from A.D. 1210. 18:00 Hrs: Return to DVFC. Day 2 Trek To Rhino Pool / Night Jungle Walk 07:00 Hrs: Breakfast served at the dining hall. 08:30 Hrs: Embark on a guided trek to Rhino Pool, which takes approximately 4 hours for a full-loop trekking. If the weather permits, you may take a refreshing swim in the cold, unpolluted rainforest stream. Keep your binoculars at the ready because there are ample opportunities for wildlife and bird watching. 14:00 Hrs: Return to DVFC and continue bird-watching activities. 19:00 Hrs: Dinner served at the dining hall. Day 3 Danum Valley Exploration / Night Jungle Walk 07:00 Hrs: Breakfast at the dining hall. 08:30 Hrs: Discover more about Danum Valley. Free time at your own leisure. Explore another nature trail with your guide, or take a walk to the canopy bridge to do your own wildlife spotting. 12:30 Hrs: Lunch at the dining hall. 14:00 Hrs: Continue bird-watching activities. 19:00 Hrs: Dinner at the dining hall. Day 4 Hike To Bukit Atur / Danum Valley / Lahad Datu Wake up as early as 04:30 Hrs for a 4x4 drive to Bukit Atur and be among the first to greet the first ray of the sun as it touches the valley (if weather permits) or rise at 06:00 Hrs for another morning trek with your nature guide. Return to the center for your hearty breakfast, and afterwards, rest or embark on a nearby trail nearby the centre. Pack your belongings for checking out time at 10:30 Hrs, and depart DVFC for your travel to Lahad Datu. Breakfast End
