Overview of Tour

Discover the wild heart of Borneo on this 3-day adventure that brings you face-to-face with the legendary Borneo Big Five and weaves through the historic city of Sandakan. Your journey begins in Sandakan, a charming port city where Cantonese cuisine and rich heritage earned it the nickname "Little Hong Kong." From the hilltop Puh Jih Shih Temple, you'll gaze out over the bay before diving into the city's soul - its bustling market stalls and the wooden homes of Sim Sim Water Village, perched gracefully above the waves.

But it's the call of the wild that makes this journey truly special. At Sepilok, you'll watch young orangutans swing through the trees as they learn to make the rainforest their home again. Next door, the world's smallest bears steal hearts at the Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Then it's time to venture along the mighty Kinabatangan River, where nature puts on an unforgettable performance. Keep your camera ready as you cruise past troops of proboscis monkeys, and if luck is on your side, spot a family of pygmy elephants ambling along the riverbank - these endangered giants are just part of the incredible wildlife that calls this river home.

Between wildlife encounters, you'll rest your head in comfort at Sabah Hotel and the tranquil Bilit Rainforest Lodge. At the Rainforest Discovery Centre, you can explore a 7km trail through pristine jungle and take in breathtaking views from the canopy walkway suspended in the treetops. Whether you're captivated by wildlife, drawn to ancient cultures, or simply seeking adventure, this corner of Sabah promises memories that will stay with you long after you've returned home.

Overview of Location

Situated on Sabah's northeastern coast, Sandakan is the second-largest city and a key starting point for eco-adventures, rich in natural splendor. Though it lacks the bustling vibe of Kota Kinabalu, it more than makes up for it with its abundant wildlife and scenic attractions.

The Kinabatangan River stretches from southwest Sabah to the Sulu Sea near Sandakan, cutting through varied landscapes like limestone caves, forests, swamps, and mangroves. These diverse environments provide ample opportunities for thrilling activities, making it an ideal spot for an unforgettable Borneo getaway.

About Bilit Rainforest Lodge

A boardwalk links the jetty, restaurant, and chalets, providing a tranquil retreat and an excellent base for exploring the rich wildlife and plant life in the Kinabatangan region.

Bird lovers will be delighted by the variety of species, such as hornbills, kingfishers, owls, and eagles. Wildlife encounters may include Bornean pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, orangutans, gibbons, and estuarine crocodiles.
