Begin your journey with a relaxed walk across Jambatan Tamparuli, Sabah's iconic suspension bridge. Famous in local lore, this bridge even inspired a traditional song and stage show, capturing the essence of rural Sabah life. Continue along the scenic Crocker Range for about an hour to reach Nabalu Handicraft Market, perched on a hillside. This bustling market is a hub for locals, offering a range of fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, and unique handicrafts. Be sure to visit the viewing platform nearby, where you can admire panoramic views of Mount Kinabalu. Enjoy some family-friendly fun at Marisini Recreation Park, where you’ll find a selfie garden and a delightful rabbit farm. Next, visit the Kundasang War Memorial, dedicated to honouring the soldiers who perished in the Sandakan Death Marches during WWII, as well as commemorating the sacrifices of the local people. Day 2 Sosodikon Hill / Desa Cow Farm / Alpaca Club / Kundasang Farmville Start the day with an early morning hike up Sosodikon Hill, a short, beginner-friendly trail offering stunning views of the village and surrounding landscapes. Head to Desa Cow Farm, lovingly referred to as "Little New Zealand of Sabah." Encounter Holstein Friesian cows, feed the calves, and sample locally made dairy treats such as yoghurt and gelato. This farm produces an impressive 150,000 litres of fresh milk every month. Visit the Alpaca Club, where you can meet and feed adorable alpacas, the only ones of their kind in Sabah. Day 3 Kinabalu National Park / Poring Hot Spring / Canopy Walk / Fish Spa / Kota Kinabalu After breakfast, check out and proceed to Kinabalu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Kinabalu UNESCO Global Geopark. Situated 1,500 meters above sea level, this vast 754 sqkm park is home to Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in Southeast Asia. Marvel at the mist-covered mountains and the sweeping beauty of the valleys below. The park hosts a diverse range of plant life with approximately 4,500 species, including 1,500 orchid species – 77 of which are found nowhere else. Additionally, Kinabalu Park is home to 289 bird species and 290 types of butterflies. Take a guided walk through the Botanical Garden, where you’ll see rare orchids, carnivorous pitcher plants, and much more, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts. After exploring the park, head to Poring Hot Spring for a rejuvenating dip in natural sulphur pools styled after Japanese open-air tubs. You can also enjoy the cold water pool nearby if you prefer a refreshing dip. Set off for an immersive experience in Mount Kinabalu’s treetops with the Canopy Treetop Walk. This 105-metre-long walkway, suspended 30 meters above ground, provides a unique view of the ancient rainforest, where you might spot unique wildlife and rare bird species. A brief 20-minute hike is required to reach the Canopy Walkway. Conclude the day with a visit to a nearby fish spa for a natural pedicure, where local fish gently nibble at your feet, leaving them soft and refreshed.
