Day 1 Arrival / Deer & Lang Caves / Bat Exodus Upon arrival at Mulu Airport, you will be transferred to your accommodation for check-in. After checking in, head to the park cafe for your lunch. At 1400hrs, gather for a safety briefing led by our local guide. Embark on a 3KM walk along almost-flat raised plank paths, taking 40 minutes to 1 hour to reach the Bat Observatory. Continue your journey by walking an additional 500m to discover one of the world's largest cave passages, housing over 3 million Wrinkle Lipped bats. Deer Cave, another fascinating destination, is home to a substantial number of swiftlets. The high cave ceilings, exceeding 100m in some areas, offer a secure refuge for these birds against predators. Marvel at the sheer size of this limestone passage, an ancient riverbed showcasing the force of water carving scalloped walls. Upon reaching the green oasis of the Garden of Eden, having covered 800m inside Deer Cave, relish the sight of Adam and Eve's showers – a unique showerhead formation with water columns spouting 30m to the riverbed below. Returning along a similar path with different perspectives, explore Lang's Cave, adorned with magnificent limestone shawls, stalagmites, and stalactites. This smaller cave provides a closer view of bats and the shimmering webs of threadworm larvae, a charming feature of Mulu Caves. The tour is strategically timed to coincide with the bat exodus, anticipated to commence anytime after 1700hr. Following the captivating bat exodus, return to your accommodation. Dinner will be served before you go to rest and unwind overnight. Lunch / Dinner Park HQ / Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa
Day 2 Batu Bungan - Penan Settlement Handicraft Market / Wind & Clearwater Caves Start your day with breakfast, and then gather at either 0800hrs in the resort lobby or Park HQ, depending on your chosen accommodation. From there, embark on a longboat journey, departing from either Park HQ or the Resort, depending on your accommodation. Cruise along the Melinau River to reach a Penan Longhouse and explore the market at Batu Bungan (closed on Sundays). Consider trying out the blowpipe experience at your own expense. Immerse yourself in the local handicraft and arts market in the Penan Settlement before proceeding with your cave exploration. Make a stop at the Cave of the Winds (Wind Cave), where you'll navigate along a lengthy ramp and climb a few stairs. The journey continues to Clearwater, where the subterranean river emerges from the cliff face. Ascend 200 flights of stairs to marvel at the Monophilia Pendula, an endemic species in Mulu. Clearwater Cave, one of the largest cave systems globally, spans over 220km. While swimming inside the cave is prohibited, you can cool down at the picnic deck in the crystal-clear waters. Our local guide will provide a picnic lunch at the Clearwater Rest Hut. Facilities like toilets and designated smoking areas are available. Following your leisure water activities, return to your accommodation. Utilize your free time at your own pace such as exploring more of Mulu through unguided trails or walks. Dinner will be served before you rest and spend the night comfortably. Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner Park HQ / Mulu Marriott Resort & Spa
