For over a decade, Carol Binti Julius has been a driving force at Amazing Borneo. As the Senior Sales Manager, she has played a crucial role in the company’s success, shaping its sales strategies and leading a dynamic team. But beyond the workplace, she also embraces another vital role – being a mother. Balancing both has been no easy feat, but for Carol, it has been a journey of growth, resilience, and purpose.

“The journey to this role has been all about learning and growth,” Carol shares. “I started with different roles and positions within the company, gaining experience and knowledge along the way. With hard work, dedication, and continuous support from the entire team, I was given the opportunity to lead the sales department. It’s been a rewarding journey, and I am grateful for every challenge that has taught me something valuable.”

Carol’s journey at Amazing Borneo began 11 years ago as a Tour Consultant. Over the years, she has progressed through various roles, each bringing new challenges and learning opportunities.

“Over time, I transitioned from focusing solely on execution to leading initiatives and developing strategies that drive sales growth. I’ve also had the opportunity to mentor and train junior team members, which has strengthened my leadership and coaching skills. Now, as a Senior Sales Manager, my focus is on leading the team, making strategic decisions, and ensuring we deliver exceptional experiences to our clients,” she explains.

Collaboration across departments has also become a bigger part of her role, allowing her to contribute beyond sales and build stronger business relationships.

Thriving in one of Sabah’s most competitive industries while raising a family requires adaptability and determination. “It’s not always easy, but I’ve learned to be intentional with my time. When I’m at work, I give it my all, and when I’m home, I’m fully present with my kids. Prioritisation is key—I focus on high-impact tasks, delegate when needed, and set clear boundaries to maintain a balance.”

Society often portrays motherhood as a barrier to career success, but Carol is proof that being a mother is not a limitation – it is a strength. “My family reminds me why I push myself to always do my best. Motherhood has made me a better person and a better leader – it has taught me patience, resilience, and the ability to multitask, which is just as important in the workplace. The skills I have developed as a mother help me manage my team, problem-solve under pressure, and approach challenges with a level-headed mindset.”

Flexibility and adaptability have been essential in managing both responsibilities. “Unexpected things happen both at work and at home, and I’ve learned to adapt without feeling overwhelmed. Ultimately, both roles have taught me valuable skills: leadership at work has made me a more patient and organised mother, while motherhood has made me a more empathetic and resilient leader.”

Carol credits Amazing Borneo for fostering a workplace culture that supports both career growth and family life. “Amazing Borneo has provided a work environment that allows me to grow in my career while still being present for my family. I’ve been fortunate to work with leaders and colleagues who understand the challenges of balancing work and motherhood, making it easier to manage both.”

She also highlights the importance of teamwork within the company. “The company values teamwork, which means I can rely on my team when needed, just as they can rely on me. Opportunities for career development, mentorship, and leadership growth have allowed me to progress professionally without feeling like I have to sacrifice family time. I am grateful for the trust and flexibility given to me, which enables me to perform at my best in both areas of my life.”

Today, we celebrate Carol – not just for her leadership at Amazing Borneo, but for her unwavering dedication to both her career and her family. Her journey is proof that with determination, support, and a strong work ethic, women can excel in every role they take on.
