Sample itinerary

Day 1 - Tawau / Tawau Hills Park / Guided Afternoon Walk / Night Walk

Begin your adventure with a warm welcome at Tawau Airport or your Tawau hotel lobby, followed by a 1-hour transfer to Tawau Hills Park. 

Upon arrival, enjoy a hearty lunch to energise yourself for the exciting day ahead. 

Head out on your first guided walk through the primary tropical rainforest that surrounds the park. Here, you may encounter hornbills, civet cats, and a fascinating array of snakes and frogs. The park is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, with its population of red leaf monkeys and resident family of gibbons. 

Return to the lodge in the evening, where dinner will be served at the canteen. 

As night falls, join a conservationist for an enchanting night walk around the park. The night walks are a highlight at Tawau Hills Park, allowing you opportunities to discover the diverse range of frogs, snakes, and other nocturnal creatures thriving in this pristine ecosystem. 

Return to the park lodge to unwind and rest for the night.

Day 2 - Tawau Hills Park / Guided Morning Trek / Late Afternoon Walk / Night Walk

Rise early and head out before dawn to experience the park’s vibrant wildlife during a guided morning trek. This is an ideal time to spot wildlife as the jungle begins to wake. 

After your trek, savour a well-deserved breakfast at the canteen. 

The rest of the morning is yours to enjoy at your leisure. You can use this time to rest or explore the park’s longer trails on your own, immersing yourself in the natural world around you. 

Refuel with lunch at the canteen before venturing out on a late afternoon walk to further explore the rich wildlife of the park. 

Dinner is served at the canteen. 

Embark on a night walk for encounters with the park’s nocturnal animals, offering a unique perspective of the forest after dark. 

Return to your lodge for another restful night at Tawau Hills Park.

Day 3 - Tawau Hills Park / Tawau Airport or Hotel

Start your day with an optional morning walk, giving you one last chance to marvel at the wildlife of Tawau Hills Park before bidding the jungle goodbye. Alternatively, you may also choose to sleep in to the sounds of the rainforest. 

Enjoy a satisfying local breakfast before checking out of your accommodation. 

You will be transferred back to Tawau Airport or your Tawau hotel – your tour ends here.

  • Kindly take note that there are no water heaters at Tawau Hills Park. However, kettles are provided for boiling water if needed. 
  • Standard check-in and check-out times for most hotels and resorts are 15:00 Hrs and 12:00 Hrs. However, check-in and check-out times may vary depending on each accommodation. Kindly check with us to get accurate check-in and check-out times for your accommodation.  
  • Effective as of 1st September 2017, the Tourism and Culture Ministry of Malaysia will be implementing a Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTx). Foreign tourists will be required to pay a flat rate of RM10/room/night regardless of accommodation star level. The TTx is to be paid upon check-in. Malaysians or permanent residents residing in Malaysia are exempted from TTx and are required to present valid identification upon check-in for the exemption.
