Bizarre Creatures of Borneo

The Island of Borneo is known as the green lung of the world, a land that offers a window into nature at its most beautiful and bizarre ; glow in the dark mushrooms, stalk-eyed flies with hammer-styled heads, hydraulic spiders and carnivorous pitcher plans. Nepenthes Pitcher Plant

The Nepenthes-- translates as “soothing grief” from Old Greek, commonly known to humans of planet earth as the Tropical Pitcher Plant, but acknowledged by Monkeys as a Cup to drink rainwater from.

Oriental Pied-Hornbill

Bornean Keeled Pit Viper

Meet the beautifully feisty Bornean Keeled Pit Viper, spotted by our guide Ryan while in the wilds of Sandakan. Its stunning colors & scales makes you feel like reaching out touch it, but don't, this is one venomous fella you don't want to mess with! Its a species of its own and loves to swallow arboreal rodents, birds & frogs.
