Oh, wait – that’s too easy.

Have you ever tried carrying something that is three times your size while climbing up Mount Kinabalu?

Well, that’s what our local porters do, sometimes on a daily basis!   Every single item that you find at the assorted huts of Mount Kinabalu - food, bedframes, doors, canned drinks, cooking pots, you name it – has been carried up step after painful step by the native porters.     With many kilos on their back, these unsung heroes uncomplainingly plod up and down the steep mountain trail each day, just to ensure that climbers have a decent place to stay and good food to enjoy after a long day of climbing.

I’m sure that after seeing this, our climbers will more fully appreciate the can of coke or chocolate bars that they purchase at the Mountain Hut. ;)
