Sabah Parks has announced on 11th March 2019 the opening of Panalaban Hostel, the latest addition to the current line-up of Mount Kinabalu base camp accommodation. The hostel can lodge up to 75 climbers and is open to both Malaysian and international climbers. However, the hostel is currently only offering 20 beds until further notice.

The opening of Panalaban Hostel means more climbing slots and permits will be available, giving more climbers the chance to fulfill their dreams of climbing Mount Kinabalu.

As for Lemaing Hut, it will only be open to Malaysian climbers, and can lodge up to 25 climbers. 

With the two huts open for reservation, an additional 45 climbing permits will be on offer.
