Dear Climbers,
RE: DRY SEASON SITUATION AT LABAN RATA
As of 14th April 2015, we have already entered into the dry season of the year, with little or no rain, and it is good news to know that you will enjoy a good weather climb and the chances of summit closure is near minimum.
As with all the years, during dry seasons, we will experience water shortages in the mountain huts which last from days to weeks. However, with the exceptionally long dry periods this year, both water and power are affected at the Mountain Huts. Hence the Authorities have announced that due to the limited water resources that they have, water will now be limited to basic hygiene uses for climbers.
AFFECTING WATER & POWER SUPPLY
Climbers will not have water for showering and free drinking water is no longer refillable at Laban Rata Restaurant. Bottled mineral water can be purchased at RM15 each (1.5Litres) and RM5 each (500mL). Power is also limited to about 5 hours a day, powered by a portable generator.
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT BY AMAZING BORNEO
In view of this, Amazing Borneo is rolling out an initiative for our climbers. Amazing Borneo team will be handling out additional 2 bottled mineral water (500mL) and 3 packets of small wet hand towel to each climber.
ADVICES
Climbers are advised to bring extra wet tissues and we recommend to bring a body powder for personal comfort and hygiene.
HAPPY CLIMBING
Amazing Borneo is committed to bringing the best services to our climbers. We hope to have rain from now onwards to alleviate the situation. From past experience, the water rationing period usually resolved in a month's time.
Should you have any questions, do contact us and we will be glad to help.
Regards,
Amazing Borneo Team
