OVERVIEW OF LOCATION

We’ve combined the scenic nature trails of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and Kinabalu UNESCO Global Geopark at Kinabalu Park with the rustic appeal of a local cow farm, ending off with a scenic cruise along Kota Kinabalu’s waterfront. This Full-Day itinerary takes you on a journey of discovery to visit Sabah’s most-celebrated highlights while at a pace relaxing enough to soak in Sabah’s natural beauty.

The most sought-after culinary experience in North Borneo is Kota Kinabalu’s First and Only Dinner Cruise, taking you across the sultry South China Sea at its most beautiful sunset hour and into the night, where city lights take over the coastline. The 2-hour voyage will be a feast for the senses with scenic views, an international buffet spread, and music from our live acts -- so bring both your camera and dancing shoes.

ABOUT THE LOCATIONS

About Kinabalu National Park : Kinabalu National Park is Malaysia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as part of the Kinabalu UNESCO Global Geopark, floristically fantastic with an estimated 5,000-6,000 vascular plant species and identified as a globally important Centre of Plant Endemism. Set at 1,500m above sea level, this 754 sq kilometre park features one of the tallest mountains in all of South East Asia as its centrepiece, Mount Kinabalu. Rising at 4,095.2m with cloud-hugging peaks that catch breath, enchant eyes and shading valleys below, this majestic mountain is certainly a sight to behold from Kinabalu National Park. Also within the park is a botanic garden boasting plant species endemic to Mount Kinabalu, as well as nature trails varying in length from 20 minutes to 2-3 hours.

About Desa Cow Farm: A popular tourist attraction, the Desa Cow Farm is known as the little New Zealand of Sabah. Offering vast, green pastures where Fresian cows roam free, this 199-hectare stretch produces nearly a million litres of fresh milk annually. Learn the ins and outs of how milk is processed and have yourself fresh milk yoghurt right after! Get up close and add a personal touch to the experience by bottle-feeding calves, an activity families will surely enjoy. With Mount Kinabalu as your backdrop, don’t miss out on a chance to snap some photos while you’re there!

Sample itinerary

Day 1 - TAMPARULI / NABALU MARKET / DESA COW FARM / KINABALU PARK / NORTH BORNEO CRUISES - SUNSET DINNER CRUISE

Upon pick up from the hotel lobby, you will be whooshed straight into Sabah’s lush countryside-- with a couple of interesting pitstops along the way for famous local eats, handmade folk souvenirs, and perhaps a taste of some exotic fruits.

The first ½ hour drive ushers you through scenic landscapes and lush paddy fields with rustic local villages and finally into Tamparuli Town. Take a walk on the famous “Jambatan Tamparuli” suspension bridge and soak up the small-town charm.

Continue your journey through the mountainous roads winding along the Crocker range for another hour till the next brief stop at Nabalu Handicraft Market. Nabalu is a rustic point perched on the hillside, where the local natives gather to sell local produce, fruits, homegrown vegetables and handicraft souvenirs.

When the roads grow narrow, and the landscape gives you rear view mirror licks of fresh green sceneries, you have reached the Desa Cattle Farm—A 199-hectare stretch of pristine farmland on the foothills of Mount Kinabalu.

Cattle graze the green valley pastures to provide nearly one million litres of mountain-fresh milk annually, all while travellers both near and far enjoy the outrageously scenic view that plays the backdrop to this dairy farm. You can get close to the cattle, bottle feed the calves and enjoy some fresh milk or yoghurt produced straight off the farm.

Proceed for lunch at a local restaurant.

Upon arrival at Malaysia’s first-ever UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Kinabalu UNESCO Global Geopark, Kinabalu National Park, you will notice a cooling change in the air temperature. Kinabalu Park itself boasts an estimated 4,500 species of plants, which include 1,500 species of orchids, 77 of which are endemic to Kinabalu. The park also supports 289 species of birds and 290 different types of butterflies.  Enjoy the refreshing and cooling air as you proceed for a guided walk along the nature trails in the Botanical Garden to learn more about Kinabalu Park’s biological treasure trove.

Your tropical evening on the North Borneo Cruise begins right after a good walk from Kinabalu National Park. Get ready to become acquainted with the charms of Kota Kinabalu on a whole new level.

By 17:30hrs, All aboard! Your evening unfolds along the sultry sun-tinged South China Sea, cruising past the islands and water villages that dot Sabah’s west coast.

You are free to wander around the vessel. Panoramic ocean views, the warmth of the setting sun and the gentle sea breeze grace the upper deck while a live band serenades the ethnic-themed air-conditioned restaurant below with acoustic favourites.

Dinner will be served buffet style. It's time to sink your teeth into Sabah’s most sought-after culinary experience. As the sun sets and the stars emerge, Kota Kinabalu’s coastline comes alive with dazzling city night lights. North Borneo Cruises will glide across the Waterfront as you indulge in the food and the views.

Your rendezvous at sea comes to an end at 1930hrs. You will disembark from the cruise at the Sutera Marina Jetty, and bid goodbye as you return back to your respective hotel.
