Sample itinerary

Day 1 - Lahad Datu / Borneo Rainforest Lodge / Nature Trails / Tree-Top Canopy Walk / Night Drive

Good morning! We will pick you up at the Lahad Datu Airport or your hotel at Lahad Datu between 0800hrs - 0900hrs.

At 0930hrs, following a quick registration and briefing, embark on a captivating 2.5-hour journey along gravel roads leading to the expansive Danum Valley Borneo Rainforest Lodge. Spanning 43,800 hectares, this area shelters the largest protected lowland dipterocarp rainforest in Sabah. 

Upon arrival around noon, dive into a delightful check-in process before indulging in a satisfying lunch. The afternoon kicks off with a fascinating slide presentation at the Conference Room, setting the stage for what's to come. 

At 1500hrs, get ready for an exhilarating trek, immersing yourself in the wonders of nature through the 'Nature Trails' and experiencing the 300m-long 'Canopy Walkway' rising 26m high for an up-close encounter with the rainforest's magnificence. 

As the sun sets, savour a delectable dinner at the Lodge, energizing for the night's adventure.  

At 2030hrs, hop on an open-top vehicle for a thrilling Night Drive, seeking out the elusive nocturnal animals (weather permitting). Rest easy amidst the enchanting sounds of the rainforest, as you spend the night at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

Day 2 - Jungle Trek / Kadazandusun Burial Site-Coffin Cliff / Jacuzzi Pool / Tubing in Danum River / Night Walk

At 0700hrs, start your day with a hearty breakfast, gearing up for an adventure-packed day ahead!  

At 0900hrs, dive into a thrilling Morning Jungle Trek to the Kadazandusun burial site, known as 'Coffin Cliff,' followed by an ascent to the 'Viewpoint' for a breathtaking bird's-eye panorama. Descend to the rejuvenating 'Jacuzzi Pool' for a refreshing dip, surrounded by the wonders of nature. 

At 1500hrs, recharge with a satisfying lunch at the Lodge before diving back into the wilderness. Choose your afternoon adventure: either embark on another invigorating Jungle Trek or opt for a serene 'tubing' session down the Danum River, letting the currents guide you through the rainforest's beauty. 

As the day winds down, relish a delightful dinner back at the Lodge, refuelling for an enchanting nighttime escapade. 

At 2030hrs, join a captivating Night Walk in pursuit of elusive nocturnal creatures (weather permitting), concluding your day surrounded by the mystical allure of the Borneo Rainforest Lodge.

Day 3 - Borneo Rainforest Lodge/ Semporna

At 0800hrs, kick off your day with a delightful breakfast at the lodge, setting the pace for a leisurely 'free and easy' morning. 

At 12:00hrs, relish a satisfying lunch at the lodge.

At 12.30hrs, check out the lodge and depart for the scheduled transfer to Lahad Datu. Afterwards, go for the overland transfer to Semporna. 

Upon arrival at Semporna, immerse yourself in the freedom of the day and settle in for a comfortable overnight stay at a Semporna hotel.

Day 4 - Semporna / Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort

Upon your arrival at the hotel lobby, our team will warmly welcome you and swiftly transfer you to the private jetty in Semporna. Get ready for an incredible boat journey to the breathtaking destination of Kapalai!  

Dive into the renowned Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort, offering access to an astonishing variety of marine life. 

Capture picturesque moments against the backdrop reminiscent of the Maldives. Explore the underwater realm through thrilling snorkeling and glass-bottom kayak rides, getting up close to vibrant fish, stunning coral formations, and other fascinating marine creatures.

Day 5 - Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort

Experience a day filled with adventure and exploration at Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort, brimming with a plethora of thrilling activities.  

Immerse yourself in crystal-clear waters for swimming, snorkelling, and discover the ocean's marvels through exhilarating ocean kayaking experiences.  

From sunrise to sunset, indulge in a delectable variety of local and international cuisine served buffet-style, satisfying your taste buds amid this aquatic paradise.

Day 6 - Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort / Semporna / Tawau Airport

After a delightful breakfast, bid farewell to the stunning Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort as you check out and board a boat for your return journey to Semporna.  

Transition smoothly for your transfer to Tawau Airport, where you can catch your flight or consider extending your Sabah trip!

  • Effective as of 1st September 2017, the Tourism and Culture Ministry of Malaysia will be implementing a Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTX). Foreign tourists will be required to pay a flat rate of MYR 10 per room per night regardless of accommodation star level. The TTX is to be paid upon check-in. Malaysians or permanent residents residing in Malaysia are exempted from TTX and is required to present a valid identification upon check-in for the exemption. 
  • Recommended flights from Kota Kinabalu to Lahad Datu: Malaysia Airlines MH3012 (ETD: 0705hrs / ETA: 0800hrs).

  • The first boat transfer to Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort is 10:30hrs. 
  • Please note chalets are a mixture of air-conditioned and fan only rooms and are assigned run-of-house basis (first come, first served) by the resort. 
  • This package is based on a join-in basis of shared guide and transport vehicle. Private Guide or Tour is available upon request at a reasonable fee. Please inform us when making the bookings.

Pregnant women are also not recommended as the boat ride may be bumpy depending on the sea condition.   • Amazing Borneo and Sipadan Kapalai Dive Resort will not be held liable for any delay, additional expenses or inconvenience which may be caused directly or indirectly by events outside of the company's control, such as late arrival of domestic or international flights, civil disturbances, fire, floods, unusually severe weather, act of God, act of Government, or the failure of any machinery or equipment and property whilst staying at the resort, of during participation of any activity. 
  • In the unlikely event that the dive trip is cancelled due to bad weather, rough and dangerous sea conditions, a natural disaster, an act of God, war, political unrest, or a danger to passengers or the boat, then the resort has the right to cancel or delay the departure. The resort withholds the right to change the planned itinerary, leave for the jetty early or change the schedule.
