Day 1 - Arrival in Kuching / Bako National Park / The Cove 55

Embark on an exhilarating journey to Sarawak’s oldest national park, a sanctuary for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The adventure begins with a scenic 45-minute drive to Bako Fishing Village, the starting point of your expedition. From here, board a 30-minute boat ride along the stunning coastline, where the refreshing sea breeze welcomes you to the untamed beauty of Bako National Park. Take note to keep your hands inside the boat, as some coastal plants are covered in sharp thorns.

Upon arrival, register at the Park’s Information Centre, where you will receive insights into the park’s seven unique ecosystems. Begin your trek through mangrove forests, where you’ll spot mudskippers darting across the water and vivid blue fiddler crabs scuttling along the mudflats.

As you explore deeper, keep your eyes open for Sarawak’s fascinating wildlife, including Proboscis Monkeys leaping through the trees, Bearded Pigs foraging along the trails, and Silver Leaf Monkeys observing curiously from the canopy.

After an immersive day in nature, transfer to Cove 55 for check-in and overnight stay.

Day 2 - Sarawak Cultural Village / Irrawaddy Dolphin Wildlife & Fireflies Cruise

Start the day with a transfer to the Sarawak Cultural Village, an award-winning living museum located 24 km from Kuching City at the foothills of Mount Santubong.

Discover Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage as you explore this 17-acre village, home to around 150 residents demonstrating traditional arts, crafts, and daily activities. Step inside authentic longhouses of the Iban, Bidayuh, and Orang Ulu communities and visit the Melanau tall-house, each offering a glimpse into Sarawak’s diverse indigenous cultures. Experience the vibrant multi-cultural dance performance in the village’s theatre, a highlight of your visit.

Next, transfer to Santubong Jetty, where your 3-hour wildlife cruise begins.

Set off from the Santubong Boat Club and explore the Santubong and Salak Rivers, home to an array of wildlife thriving in the mangrove ecosystem. Keep an eye out for the elusive Irrawaddy Dolphins, known for their unique rounded heads, as they glide through the waters of rivers, estuaries, and coastal zones.

Other wildlife sightings may include estuarine crocodiles, macaque monkeys, mudskippers, monitor lizards, and Silver Leaf Monkeys. The surrounding wetlands are also a haven for birdwatchers, with species such as the White-Bellied Sea Eagle, White Egret, Kingfisher, and Seagulls frequently spotted.

For those opting for an evening cruise, experience the enchanting sight of fireflies illuminating the mangrove branches, a truly magical display of nature’s beauty.

Day 3 - Fairy & Wind Caves / Semenggoh Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre

After breakfast, depart from Cove 55 for a scenic countryside drive to the Bau region, home to some of Sarawak’s most breathtaking cave systems.

Arrive at the Fairy Caves, renowned for their dramatic limestone formations, towering stalactites, and vibrant montane vegetation. Take in the spiritual atmosphere as you come across Taoist shrines and offering altars, which reflect the deep-rooted traditions of the local community. Be prepared for an exhilarating climb, as the incline is slightly steep but well worth the effort.

Continue to the Wind Caves, named after the cool, constant breeze that flows through their tunnels. Wander through the serene underground chambers, where the impressive geological formations and dimly lit passageways create an otherworldly experience.

After your cave exploration, transfer to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, a 740-hectare virgin rainforest reserve dedicated to the rehabilitation and conservation of Orangutans. Witness these gentle primates emerging from the jungle during feeding time, and learn about the centre's efforts to rescue orphaned Orangutans and protect their natural habitat.

Beyond Orangutans, the centre is also home to gibbons, porcupines, crocodiles, and river terrapins, making it a crucial haven for Sarawak’s wildlife. Listen to the calls of the rehabilitated gibbons echoing through the forest, or spot rare wild birds soaring overhead.

After an enriching day, return to Cove 55 for the evening.
