Sample itinerary

Day 1 - Kuching / Tanjung Datu National Park

08:50 Hrs - 09:10 Hrs: Depart from your hotel or Kuching Airport, embarking on a scenic 2-hour drive to Sematan, a quaint coastal town. 

Enjoy an early lunch at a local eatery before proceeding by road to Telok Melano, a traditional Malay fishing village. 

13:00 Hrs: Transfer to a boat for a picturesque 20-minute journey to Tanjung Datu National Park, where you’ll be greeted by stunning beaches and lush rainforest. 

Settle into the Park HQ, taking a leisurely walk along the Telok Upas, Viewpoint, or Belian trails, immersing yourself in the natural surroundings 

Spend the rest of the day at your leisure, whether it's relaxing on the beach, swimming, or exploring the turtle hatchery. 

Enjoy dinner at the Park HQ before embarking on a thrilling night walk to spot nocturnal creatures like wild boars, deer, and civet cats. 

Overnight stay at the camping shelters – your guide will alert you of any turtle nestings that occur along the shore. You may observe once the turtle has begun laying eggs.

Day 2 - Tanjung Datu National Park

08:00 Hrs: After breakfast, venture on an exciting jungle trek along the Pasir Antu Laut trail, offering glimpses of wildlife such as gibbons and hornbills. 

Follow the 2.7 km trail through pristine forest to Antu Laut beach, where you can take a refreshing swim. 

Continue along the forest trail, turning left onto a track leading to the main turtle beach, adorned with picturesque boulders and lush rainforest. 

13:00 Hrs – 14:00 Hrs: Return to the Park HQ for a late lunch and some leisure time. 

Enjoy dinner at the Park HQ, with the possibility of witnessing turtle landings during the night. 

Overnight stay at the camping shelters, surrounded by the sounds of the rainforest.

Day 3 - Tanjung Datu National Park / Kuching

After breakfast, spend the morning at your leisure, relaxing on the beach or exploring park trails. 

12:00 Hrs: Board a boat to Telok Melano, followed by a road journey to Sematan for lunch at a local restaurant. 

15:00 Hrs: Return to Kuching by road. 

17:00 Hrs: Drop-off at your hotel or Kuching Airport.

  • The accommodations at Tanjung Datu National Park are raised wooden camping shelters with mattresses, bedding, and mosquito netting provided. Showers and toilets are accessible at the Park HQ. 
  • Please ensure you are holding an air ticket to Kuching.

  • Effective as of 1st September 2017, the Tourism and Culture Ministry of Malaysia will be implementing a Malaysian Tourism Tax (TTx).
