Meet at Sandakan airport or your hotel lobby for the transfer to the jetty.

Boat departure from Sandakan Yacht Club Jetty to Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort in Abai, Kinabatangan. The 1.5 hours boat ride will take you across Sandakan Bay passing the historical Berhala island. The prominent sandstone cliffs is a historical site during the World War II.

Arrive at KWR, check in at the long-house cabin and enjoy a cup of coffee and local banana fritters while you are briefed about the lodging and the activities. Free at leisure.

Board a smaller boat for a cruise along Kinabatangan river in search of wildlife, and admire the stunning river landscape as the sun sets. If weather permits, we shall continue to observe the fireflies shimmering as the evening falls before we cruise back to resort.

Dinner will be served at the common hall.

After dinner, geared with your headlamp or torchlight, we take a stroll along the boardwalk to look for interesting insects or other wildlife that may turn up after dark.

Early morning cruise to observe more wildlife and birdlife. We shall cruise to the nearby ox-bow lake, Danau Pitas, to explore the area. Enjoy your packed breakfast while admiring the natural surroundings.

We continue on to visit the local fishing village, Kampung Abai. Interact with the local Orang Sungai (River People) and observe the daily activities in this tiny fishing village. Return to the lodge for rest and lunch.

Explore the resort grounds for interesting plants and insects. Birding within the area.

Set off for another river adventure as we cruise in search for more wildlife along small tributaries.

After dinner, we set off for a night cruise along small tributary rivers in search of nocturnal wildlife.

Return to the lodge and retire for the night.

After breakfast, check out and travel by boat to Sandakan jetty. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel or the Sandakan airport for your onwards destination.
