Overview of Tour

We’ve combined the scenic nature trails of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and Global Geopark at Kinabalu Park with a treetop adventure, taking you 30 meters above the spectacular wilderness of Borneo’s ancient rainforest. This Full-Day itinerary takes you on a journey of discovery into Sabah’s most-celebrated natural wonders while still leaving you with enough time to take it easy with a good soak in Poring’s best-known tonic for mind and body, its mineral-rich hot springs.

About The Location

Kinabalu National Park : Kinabalu National Park is Malaysia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the Kinabalu UNESCO Global Geopark located in Kundasang, Ranau. It is floristically fantastic with an estimated 5,000-6,000 vascular plant species and identified as a globally important Centre of Plant Endemism. Set at 1,500m above sea level, this 754sq kilometer park features one of the Tallest Mountains in all of South East Asia as its center piece, Mount Kinabalu-- rising at 4.095.2m with cloud-hugging peaks that catches breaths, enchants eyes and shading valleys below…. Certainly a sight to behold from Kinabalu National Park. Also within the park, restaurants amidst lush montane forests, a botanic garden boasting plant species endemic to Mount Kinabalu as well as nature trails varying in length, from 20 minutes to 2-3 hours.

Poring Hot Springs : This little Nature Reserve is the perfect place for a more relaxed jungle experience with its canopy walkways and warm therapeutic sulphur hot springs. Within the nature reserve, see the treetops like the orangutans do! Poring’s canopy walkway invites you to witness the grandeur and glory of a 100 million year old rainforest from a 105m length walkway suspended 30m above unspoiled flora. Besides the various nature trails snaking through both the forest floor and amidst treetops, the park also feature a beautifully landscaped garden hosting Poring’s best known tonic for mind and body— mineral-rich hot-springs bubbling from deep in the earth.

Reviews

  • Mi Mi Choong 28/03/2024

My family of 3 enjoyed our Kinabalu Park & Poring Hot Spring Tour with Amazing Borneo. We appreciate the service provided by admin officers (Anter & IJack), our guide (Tan) and driver (Captain Jack). Tan & Captain Jack ensured that we return safely at the doorstep of our accommodation.

We also want to give a very special shoutout to Tommy Chan, the executive from Amazing Borneo who came to fetch us to the Mari Mari Cultural Village Tour. Tommy arrived punctually and provided us with insights into the lifestyle of the locals in Sabah. He also made recommendations for places to visit and to eat. He is friendly and eloquent; we have learned so much from him.

In this natural park, you can see flowers and butterflies, you can enjoy the hot pools, but the most interesting is to cross the 5 bridges and say: I did it! The canopy walkway is a great experience, you can stop and enjoy the nature above and between the trees.

Awesome trip. Very well organized. The guide, Diana, was really good. Warm and funny. She was also very well informed of all the various places she took us.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1

KOTA KINABALU / TAMPARULI TOWN / NABALU MARKET / KINABALU PARK / PORING HOT SPRING & CANOPY TREETOP WALK / KOTA KINABALU

Upon pick up from the hotel lobby, you will be whooshed straight into Sabah’s lush countryside-- with a couple of interesting pitstops along the way for some famous local eats, handmade folk souvenirs, and perhaps a taste of some exotic fruits.

The first ½ hour drive ushers you through scenic landscapes and lush paddy fields laced with rustic local villages and finally into Tamparuli Town. Take a walk on the famous “Jambatan Tamparuli” suspension bridge and soak up the small-town charm.

Continue your journey through the mountainous roads winding along the Crocker range for another hour, till the next brief stop at Nabalu Handicraft market in Kundasang, Ranau. Nabalu is a rustic point perched on the hillside, where the local natives gather to sell local produce, fruits, home grown vegetables and handicraft souvenirs.

Upon arrival at Malaysia’s first ever UNESCO World Heritage Site and Global Geopark, Kinabalu National Park, you will notice a cooling change in the air temperature.  Set at 1,500m above sea level, this 754sq kilometer park features one of the Tallest Mountains in all of South East Asia as its center piece - Mount Kinabalu. Rising at 4,095.2m with cloud-hugging peaks that shade the valleys below, the majestic mountain is certainly a sight to behold from Kinabalu National Park.

Kinabalu Park itself boasts an estimate of 4,500 species of plants which include 1,500 species of orchids, 77 of which are endemic to Kinabalu. The park also supports 289 species of birds and 290 different types of butterflies.  Enjoy the refreshing and cooling air as you proceed for a guided walk along the nature trails in the Botanical Garden, to learn more about the Kinabalu Park’s biological treasure trove.  From carnivorous Pitcher Plants to rare Orchid species, the garden showcases a broad collection of endemic plant species found in Mount Kinabalu’s unique climatic zones.
Proceed for lunch at the restaurant in Kinabalu Park.

Depart on another hour’s journey to Poring Hot Spring.  Now it is time for a soothing sulphur bath in the Japanese-styled open air tubs! Dip in the all-natural mineral-rich hot springs water, surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. There is also a cold water pool nearby for those who prefer a cold dip.
Your day wraps up with an immersive exploration of Mount Kinabalu’s treetops. The Canopy Treetop Walk invites you to witness the grandeur of a hundred million year old rainforest, from a 105m length walkway suspended 30 meters above lush jungly tangles. Take in the sights and sounds and discover unique rainforest creatures from a bird’s eye view. Also, keep an eye out for some rare feathered beauties. A 20 minutes hike is needed to reach the Canopy Walkway.

After a relaxing soak, bid Kinabalu park goodbye as you return back to your respective hotel.
